Like with the PS4, deleting games on PS5 is a fairly straightforward task – you just need to know where to look. We explain all you need to know right here.

How to delete games on your PS5

It’s easy to delete games and free up valuable storage space on your PS5 – just follow these steps:

From the Home screen, head to the Settings app (the gear icon in the top-right). Scroll down and select Storage. Select Console Storage from the menu on the left if you want to delete games from your console, or select External Storage if you want to delete PS4 titles on an external SSD. Select Games and Apps. Select the title(s) you want to delete. Press the Delete button in the bottom-left and confirm your choice to free up storage.

The game will then be deleted from your storage, but don’t worry, you’ll be able to re-download it again whenever you like via the Library app on PS5 or the PlayStation Store itself.

Can I delete games via the PlayStation app?

The ability to be able to remotely delete games and clean up your installed game library from the PlayStation app for iOS and Android sounds tempting – especially given the small base storage on offer from the PS5 and the fact that you can queue downloads from your smartphone – but sadly, that’s not functionality Sony offers right now.

But what do you do if you want to install a new game via your phone but find out your drive is full? For now, your only choice is to head home, boot up your PS5 and make space yourself, but hopefully, it’ll be a feature Sony rolls out in a future PS5 software update.
