Use the handle of a rat-tail comb to create a neat, even part. Choose a side to start with, then clip the other one out of the way.
Make sure that the sections are pointing towards the back of your head and not the floor.

The tighter you braid, the better. Don’t worry, you can loosen the braids up at the end.
Use bobby pins that match your hair color. You can cross the tails across the top of your head, or tuck them into the space between the two braids.
Clip your first boxer braid out of the way when you reach the nape of your neck. You can also just gather your hair into a loose ponytail and forgo doing a regular braid.
Secure the first braid with a clip while you work on the second one. Remember to remove the clip before pulling your hair into a ponytail!
